about

I read a chapter every morning from the Bible, a stoic text, a Buddhist text, A Hindu text, ect. Anything that will force me to reflect on my actions and own up to my shortcomings. It also sets me up for the day as putting a certain mindset in place before I get going.
I've finally hammered down that discipline, but now I'm working on putting these practices into place, which will be a lifelong journey. Call this corny or whatever, but this is the most mindful, self aware, and at peace with myself I've ever been since I was a kid that could not yet explore abstract thought.
With that thought in mind, my music "career" has been firstly, awesome to even do. Especially as I have zero background in my family with music. I just liked beats when i was a teenager so I was like ,"Yeah I can do it!", and then I realized quickly, "No, no I can't" lol.
However, making beats taught me that if you stick with anything long enough, you will see progress. I have songs on Spotify with millions of views. Like wtf, where did that come from? I now can play bass comfortably and have a trained ear.
I've used that same lesson for my life. I workout daily and have for years now. From a kid with health problems that couldn't do 1 pull up or run a quarter mile, I'm now crushing out 100 perfect form pull ups every single workout, and running 5+ miles with ease. As a school teacher, I have plans upon plans made before I begin the day. I just keep throwing my best effort at my job, and I see improvement in my teaching every year.
I could go on but it would get redundant. I'm grateful for the lesson of continuing to work at something, no matter what, that I learned from music. Results do not come right away, that's why you have to stick with it.
I don't see my music ever getting much viral traction again if I'm being honest lol. Especially since I'm not trying to get gimmick clicks from video game fans. Hell I never even played half of the games I sampled from haha. Not to mention some AI program could probably turn out what I'm making at this point. But the goal isn't to "make it" in music anymore. I've kinda experienced that already, which some people will never get a chance to do, so I will always be grateful for the views/experience I got from it previously.
So now I just do it to make a soundtrack for myself as I read in the morning. Where I make my reflections. Thanks for reading and listening. To this day I can't believe I still have listeners.
